# KYC via Desktop

## **KYC: Primary & Secondary**

​​To be able to buy tokens, you'll need to complete Know Your Customer (KYC) verification. KYC is a standard process in the financial world that helps prevent fraud and money laundering. Platforms that offer tokens are required to follow KYC regulations to ensure responsible transactions. During KYC, you'll provide some basic identification information to verify your identity. On MEXC this typically takes up to 48 hours to complete, so be sure to set up your account well in advance to be ready for the $COOKIE TGE.

MEXC offers two KYC tiers to enhance security and compliance: Primary and Advanced. Each tier unlocks different features and caters to varying user needs.

* Primary KYC: This is the basic verification level, requiring minimal information. Imagine it as a first checkpoint.You'll provide details like your nationality, ID type, ID number, date of birth and ID photos of your government-issued ID (front and back. Completing Primary KYC increases your daily withdrawal limit but might not be sufficient for all functionalities on MEXC.<br>
* Advanced KYC: This tier offers a more in-depth verification process, akin to a more secure gateway. It unlocks additional features and grants the highest withdrawal limits. To progress to Advanced KYC, you'll need to complete Primary KYC first. Advanced KYC requires the same information as Primary, but you'll also need to upload a selfie.

### **Primary KYC**&#x20;

Step 1: Access Verification

Click your account icon, then select "Identification."

Step 2: Start Verification&#x20;

Click the "Verify" button.

Step 3: Verification&#x20;

Enter Details: Choose your ID type and issuing country/region. Fill in the required information like ID number and date of birth.

Upload Documents: Take clear photos of your government-issued ID (front and back).

Submit Review: Click "Submit for review" to initiate verification.

Step 4: Wait for Approval

MEXC typically processes KYC requests within 48 hours.

Step 1: Access Verification

Step 2: Start Verification&#x20;

Click the "Verify" button.

Step 3: Confirm Primary KYC

If you haven't completed Primary KYC, choose your issuing country and ID type, then click "Confirm."
